What I remember most vividly from technology when I was in school, was teachers putting YouTube videos on the board using the projector and not being able to play them. Sometimes it was because they clicked the wrong link, sometimes they were on mute, sometimes they were not connected to wi-fi, but the general story was always the same. I may have fell victim to the stereotype that classroom teachers have difficulty with technology.

When I first viewed the website for this class I was nervous. I knew that this class would challenge a lot of my preconceived notions about technology in the classroom. One of these notions is that most technology aimed at schools is too difficult to work in order to be useful. This is something I’ve experienced and although the thought of embracing technology in a new way makes me nervous I understand that this notion is one that should be challenged in order for all of us to become better teachers.

In this class I’m looking forward to improving my digital literacy and helping students do the same.
