Participating in Edcamp today was a wonderful experience. I felt like in a short time we were able to have meaningful conversations that helped me to expand my knowledge on the topics that I am interested in. Inquiry based learning is something I have benefited from. I find that while working on inquiries my learning is more meaningful to me and therefore more memorable.
My concern with learning about Edcamp today is that it doesn’t look like the Pro-D events I have taken part of as an EA. I’ve been part of small conferences where everyone listens to the same speakers, large conferences with multiple workshops to choose from, and Pro-D events focused around learning a specific skill as a group. None of these felt like Edcamp. So how can I as a new teacher advocate for applicable Pro-D? Well I found this really cool article that talks about exactly that! While I was looking through that page I also found an article on Pro-D and technology that I found really interesting.
